Forney holds third Downtown Workshop, plans alcohol variance and office space restrictions
At Forney City Hall on the evening of November 29, the City Council, Forney Economic Development Corporation, and the Planning and Zoning Commission met for the third time to discuss plans for the downtown area. The goal of the meeting was to begin to put into action the short term, mid-term, and long term goals established by the three City entities, and to give the City staff a direction to proceed in for the betterment of the historic downtown area.

Forney City Council still undecided on allowing ice machine structure near Brookshire's
Forney's City Council met for their bi-monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 20 at Forney City Hall. A City employee was recognized for a job well done, and then the Council settled in for an hour long debate regarding an ice machine.

Forney's Mayor Pro-Tem and City Manager accused of breaking the law
On October 10, and on October 31, 2012, Denise Bell wrote in the Forney Post that City Manager Brian Brooks and Mayor Pro-Tem James Hatley have been conducting “business without any consideration for the laws of the State of Texas.” Bell also stated that print jobs were being illegally swung in Hatley's direction.

Forney City Council working towards passing a smoking ordinance
On May 1, 2012, the Forney City Council meeting began with a workshop session to discuss a future smoking ordinance in the city of Forney. The discussion has been going on behind closed doors for months, but now the city is ready to act on a smoking ban. The council discussed the smoking ordinance for 90 minutes.
