TERRELL, Texas — Firefighters from Terrell and Forney extinguished an overnight 18-wheeler fire on Interstate 20.
Around 2:09 a.m., an 18-wheeler hauling paper products caught on fire on Interstate 20 near Rose Hill Road, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.
Westbound Interstate 20 was closed for approximately three hours as a result of the fire which saw a response from the Terrell Fire Department, Terrell Police Department, Forney Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, and the Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management.
"There was no accident associated with this incident, but there were substantial delays, shutdowns, and re-routing from IH20," stated Sansom.
The highway was reopened and all units cleared from the scene just after 5 a.m.
