KEMP, Texas — The body of a missing woman was discovered in a vehicle submerged in a Kemp pond — the same pond where just two months ago another missing woman was discovered deceased.

Police say family members of the missing woman were able to ping the vehicle's location and discover it submerged in a pond off the U.S. Highway 175 frontage road at State Highway 274.

The Kemp Police Department was notified of its discovery at approximately 8:23 a.m. earlier today, April 9, 2019.

"Officers arrived on location and were able to observe a vehicle in fact submerged in the pond," Kemp Police Department Chief Suzanne Martin told inForney.com. "Rescue efforts were set in place to recover the vehicle by Kemp Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, Mabank Fire Department and Harvey’s Wrecker Service."

On Facebook, family members say the woman, who is not being notified pending family notification, had not been seen since Sunday night after leaving a family member's house in Kemp. She was reported missing after she did not show up to work on Monday.

Police ay the woman was the only occupant of the vehicle.

"At this time the investigation is still ongoing and we are requesting the family be given time to grieve and process the loss of their family member," stated Martin.

On February 10, 2019, police recovered a vehicle from the same pond. Inside, they discovered the body of 24-year-old Kaitlin Leanne Lawrence of Kemp, Texas.
