FORNEY, Texas — A portion of Main Street in downtown Forney is one-way traffic due to the ongoing construction on the Downtown Enhancements Project.
Construction crews are working on the underground drainage on the eastbound lane between Bois d’Arc and Elm Street which had forced the closure of the south side of the street. Traffic is one-way westbound between Bois d’Arc and Elm Street.
The sidewalk on the south side of Main Street remains open as do the businesses — some of which just recently announced their grand openings such as Latham Bakery and Grace For Life Designs.
Latham Bakery recently held their grand opening and Grace For Life Designs, which is currently open for business, has a grand opening scheduled for next Friday.
The Downtown Enhancements Project aims to improve downtown parking, pedestrian walkability, and spur downtown revitalization.
In its current phase, Bois d’Arc parking will transition from front-in parking on the east side to parallel parking, sidewalk enhancements, and grade enhancements. Main Street will see parking and sidewalk enhancements. Both will see landscaping enhancements.
Future plans include, among other things, additional parking on Elm Street, Main Street, Front Street and intersection enhancements at Main Street and Elm Street.
