KAUFMAN, Texas — The City of Kaufman has announced the cancellation of the Kaufman Oktoberfest citing community safety concerns.
In lieu of the event, the city announced a pop-up event featuring the State Fair of Texas' highly acclaimed Fletcher's Original Corny Dogs.
"The City of Kaufman regrets to inform you Kaufman Oktoberfest has been cancelled for this year," read a statement from the city on Tuesday morning. "We are saddened by this decision but want to do our part in keeping to community safe. We understand not everyone will agree with this decision and we assure you no one is as upset as us about the cancellation."
The Fletcher's Corny Dogs Popup event will be held on October 24, 2020, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Kaufman Sports Complex located at 595 State Highway 34.
Fletcher's Original Corny Dogs will be on-site with their mobile trailer serving corny dogs, funnel cakes, and lemonade.
Those wishing to attend the event should note there will be no pre-orders and no cash will be accepted, according to Fletcher's. Walk-up and credit card orders will only be accepted. There will also be a limit of eight corndogs per person to keep the lines moving.
Attendees are asked to practice safe social distancing, to leave at least six feet in between themselves and other attendees, to try and have just one person per household in line, and to consider wearing a mask.
