KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — For the second night in a row, Kaufman County has avoided designation in the Severe Thunderstorm Watch area but, that doesn't put county residents in the clear as a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until Thursday evening.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued for counties adjacent and north-northwest of Kaufman County — including Dallas, Rockwall, and Hunt Counties — until 1 a.m.
The Flash Flood Watch for Kaufman County and a number of nearby counties will remain in effect until 7 p.m. on Thursday.
"Localized, additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches, with isolated higher amounts are expected due to separate episodes of showers and thunderstorms," stated the National Weather Service. "Flash flooding may occur especially in urban and poor drainage areas. Heavy rainfall may also cause flooding of creeks, streams, and rivers."
Continue to monitor for future watch and forecast updates, as heavier rainfall will begin affecting areas further south of the current watch area Thursday night through early Saturday morning.
