Funeral services set for 4-year-old Kaufman boy who drowned at Cedar Creek Lake

KAUFMAN, Texas — Funeral services have been set for a 4-year-old boy who drowned at Cedar Creek Lake last week.

Visitation for Kaden James Edwards is scheduled for tonight at Byrum Funeral Chapel in Lancaster, Texas, and funeral services are scheduled for tomorrow, according to his obituary.

On Friday, June 26, 2015, Edwards and his family were at Tom Finley Park on Cedar Creek Lake prior to the drowning.

According to a GoFundMe page established to assist the family with funeral expenses, Edward went missing after his grandmother passed out and his mother ran to her aid. He was later found in the water. CPR was attempted but he was later pronounced deceased.

The GoFundMe page posted a goal of $8,000 to assist the family. As of Wednesday afternoon, the total had surpassed the goal and reached $8,995.

“You guys will never know what this means to me and our family words can't express how grateful I am to be able to give our son a good funeral he deserved,” James Edwards, Kaden’s father, stated on the GoFundMe page.

“I appreciate everything from everyone,” stated Alynsia Edwards, Kaden’s mother. “This is such a tragic moment in life for, not just me, but my whole entire family! If it weren't for my friends and our loving family, I don't know where I would be at all. Thank so many of you for coming together and help making it possible for our son to have an unforgettable service.”

The family is asking for continued prayers.
