FORNEY, Texas — The body of a kayaker who capsized on Saturday morning at Lake Ray Hubbard has been recovered, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesperson Jason Evans.
The Dallas Fire-Rescue, along with the Dallas Police Department, Texas Game Wardens, and the Rowlett Fire Department, received a 911 call and responded to Windsurf Bay Park after a kayak carrying an adult male and female capsized.
Evans says the kayakers were reportedly preparing for a race and neither was wearing a life vest.
"While the woman resurfaced, and was promptly rescued by a bystander in a boat, the man never did," he said.
Around 2 p.m., Evans says a Dallas Police Department dive team recovered the man's body from the lake.
Authorities had not identified the man at the time of press.
