KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — One person was killed after an Amtrak train collided with a dump truck at the Dallas-Kaufman County line on Monday afternoon.

The collision occurred at approximately 4:14 p.m. at the Lawson Road railroad crossing near Scyene Road — which is located in Dallas County at the Kaufman County line.

All 79 passengers onboard were uninjured, Dallas County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Raul Reyna told inForney.com.

"Upon arrival, deputies met with the engineer of the train who stated a dump truck drove around the railroad arms and was struck by the front of the train," stated Reyna. "The train pushed the vehicle about half of a mile east of the railroad tracks."

The driver of the 18-wheeler was pronounced deceased on scene by Kaufman County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Smith. He was identified by authorities as 22-year-old Carlos Alvarez of Dallas, Texas.
