KAUFMAN COUNTY - The total eclipse has come and gone, and in Kaufman County, it’s estimated that 50,000 visitors made our community their viewing spot.

Due to cloud cover and weather conditions, the anticipated initial 200,000 extra visitors didn’t pass. Instead, Kaufman County Emergency Management says there were roughly 50,000 visitors, including those from other countries.

Kaufman County’s Emergency Management Coordinator, Steve Howie, extends a heartfelt thank you to the visitors and expresses his hope for their safe return home.

“The Office of Emergency Management wants to encourage our visitors and residents to return home safely. We thank every visitor to Kaufman County, especially our international visitors.”

Leading up to the eclipse, the Kaufman County Emergency Management team and County Judge Jakie Allen met with local business owners to encourage them to stock up on gasoline and groceries to prepare for a large number of visitors.

With the eclipse now behind us and the next North American viewing not until 2024, social media is full of people sharing their experiences during this astronomical wonder. If you want to share photos, tag inForney.com on social media, and we will share them in the coming days.
