FORNEY—The Forney City Council approved a five-year, $1M contract with Axon Enterprises, Inc., for the Forney Police Department's body cameras, fleet cameras, and taser equipment.
“This upgrade addresses ongoing storage capacity issues with the current system, which no longer meets the needs of the growing police department,” stated a release from the City.
According to the proposal submitted to the Council, the total cost over five years is $1,068,415.09, which includes $419,504.31 in savings over the agreement's life.
The adopted proposal shows 66 body cameras will be delivered to the city by January 1, 2025, and 68 tasers, along with the necessary components.
The contract also allows for the Forney Police Department to upgrade tasers at 2024 pricing throughout the contract.
