Just before 6 a.m., on Friday, October 13, 2017, the Terrell Police Department and Terrell Fire Department resounded to the 1700 block of South State Highway 34, according to Terrell Police Department Interim Chief Ken McKeown.

“Officers arrived and discovered that a red 1999 Lexus pulled out of a business in the 1700 Blk. of South Highway 34 into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer,” stated McKeown.

The driver of the Lexus, identified by police after notification of next of kin as 41-year-old Ricky Henderson of Ola, Texas, was critically injured and transported to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. While being transported, McKeown said Henderson died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the Trailblazer, a 42-year-old Terrell resident, was transported to Baylor, Scott & White in Sunnyvale, Texas, with non-life threatening injuries.

Correction: Police originally reported Henderson as being from Heartland, Texas, but have since reported he is from Ola, Texas, an unincorporated community in eastern Kaufman County.
