FORNEY, Texas — Lake Pointe Church has scheduled a groundbreaking for their proposed 31,321-square foot church on Farm-to-Market (FM) 741 across from Forney High School.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the new property location, 800 FM 741, on August 27 at 7 p.m.
The Forney Campus of the Lake Pointe Church has been operating as a portable church inside North Forney High School since 2010.
“The groundbreaking of this new building will allow the church to create a permanent space for families within the community to worship and gather, as they continue to serve the people of Forney and its neighboring towns,” read a statement from the church.
Last night, the Forney City Council held a public hearing and took action to approve preliminary and final plats for the church.
Lake Pointe Church, founded in 1978, operates six physical campuses across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex — Dallas, Forney, Garland, Mesquite, Richardson, Rockwall with three Spanish campuses operating out of Mesquite, Richardson, and Rockwall.
Additionally, the church says, they minister online and reach thousands of people from countries across the globe.
