KAUFMAN, Texas (Texas Department of Transportation) – Weather permitting; beginning Feb. 2, 2015 the Texas Department of Transportation will be closing down sections of both frontage roads of U.S. Highway 175 just east of State Highway (SH) 34 in the City of Kaufman for approximately one year. This will be for the first phase of construction of the SH 34 bypass project.
The frontage road on the south side of US 175 will be closed from .5 mile east of existing SH 34 to .7 mile east of existing SH 34. The frontage road on the north side of US 175 will be closed from .4 mile east of the existing SH 34 to .9 mile east of the existing SH 34.
The frontage roads, east and west of the specified location, will remain open to two-way traffic and property owners and businesses will maintain access during this first phase of construction.
The anticipated sequencing of work for the next 12 months is expected to begin with the construction of the SH 34 bypass intersection at US 175 with two-way frontage roads closed as described above.
At the end of the first year, phased construction of US 175 frontage roads will begin and the frontage roads will be opened through the entire length of the project in a one-way, one lane configuration with new bridge turnarounds open.
The entire project is estimated to be complete in early 2017.
