ELMO, Texas — Three people were injured in a fiery, two-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 20 on Tuesday night.
At approximately 6:40 p.m., the Elmo Fire Department was dispatched to the crash on Interstate 20 about two miles east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 429. Mutual aid was requested from the College Mound Fire Department (CMFD).
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered one vehicle on fire, which had partially been knocked down by citizens using a fire extinguisher, according to a statement from the CMFD. The three victims had also been moved to a safe place.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and assisted CareFlite with the patients. All three, according to CMFD, sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The car appeared to have struck the back of the SUV and became disabled in the middle of the highway, caught on fire, and sent the SUV into a roll off the shoulder of the highway, according to firefighters.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
