HEARTLAND, Texas — A 17-year-old was arrested overnight and a juvenile remains at-large after an armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver in Heartland.

Just before midnight, Crandall police officers who were assigned to Heartland were dispatched to the 2000 block of Times Road in reference to an aggravated robbery, according to Crandall Police Department Chief Dean Winters.

Police say the pizza delivery driver was robbed of cash at gunpoint by two individuals who fled on foot.

"The officers quick response resulted in the arrest of one suspect, identified as 17 yoa Dion E. McElroy, who had fled but was caught not far from the scene of the offense," stated Winters.

"A second subject who fled has been identified as a juvenile and is still at large," he said.

The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, Forney Police Department, and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter aided in the search for the suspects.

Winters says both weapons used in the offense were recovered by police.

McElroy was charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Anyone with information on this offense is asked to contact the Crandall Police Department at (972) 427-3767.
