FORNEY, Texas — A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting incident that left a 17-year-old injured in the Forney area Thursday night.
On September 14, 2023, at 8:30 p.m., deputies from the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting reported in the 2000 block of Gardenia. Upon arrival, they were able to gather information from several witnesses at the scene leading to the arrest of 19-year-old Jaylon Hunt, of Forney, Texas.
Hunt was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct, and theft of a firearm.
The 17-year-old victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to a nearby hospital and later released.
Assisting in the incident were officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable's Office. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
A search warrant was also executed at a residence on Cone Flower Drive though inForney.com has been unable to confirm if it was related to this case, as of press.
Hunt was booked into the Kaufman County Jail on charges for theft of a firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and deadly conduct discharging a firearm. He is awaiting arraignment.
