QUINLAN, Texas — A felon, considered armed and dangerous, who had been sought by the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office was captured overnight.

QUINLAN, Texas — A felon, considered armed and dangerous, who had been sought by the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office was captured overnight.

The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for 38-year-old James Bryan Compton on three felony warrants and more possible charges. Compton was captured overnight, according to the department.

"James Compton is now in custody. Thanks for all your shares and intel," the department stated late Thursday night. "A violent fugitive has been removed from our streets."

Compton was known to frequent areas of Quinlan, West Tawakoni, and Hawk Cove, just north of the Kaufman County line, according to the sheriff’s department.

The sheriff’s department says they have obtained information Compton might be stealing four-wheelers in the area to travel from place to place.

Compton is described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.
