TERRELL, Texas — An arrest has been made in a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash which occurred early Thursday morning.
59-year-old Gennie Valenda Madden of Terrell, Texas, was struck and killed on U.S. Highway 80 early Thursday morning. The vehicle left the scene of the crash.
Police asked for the public’s assistance identifying the vehicle and Friday night, at approximately 9 p.m., received a tip the vehicle was parked inside a garage of a residence in Terrell.
“Terrell Police Department Officers responded to that address and upon walking up to make contact with the occupant(s) of the residence observed a broken window on the garage door,” Terrell Police Department Corporal Robby Lavin stated in a Saturday morning update. “Through the broken glass officers could clearly see a dark blue Lincoln MKX with obvious damage to the front left side of the vehicle including a broken windshield.”
Officers made contact with the female resident, identified as Dolores Fuentes of Terrell, Texas, who admitted to police she was the driver of the vehicle Thursday morning and to striking the victim.
Fuentes was taken into custody and charged with accident involving death and is being held on a $75,000 bond at the Kaufman County Jail.
