ATHENS, Texas — A Henderson County grand jury has indicted an Athens ISD bus driver in connection with a fatal train crash earlier this year.

ATHENS, Texas — A Henderson County grand jury has indicted an Athens ISD bus driver in connection with a fatal train crash earlier this year.

The grand jury indicted 78-year-old John Franklin Stevens with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury and manslaughter/criminally negligent homicide.

On January 25, 2019, Stevens was driving an Athens ISD bus when it was struck by a Union Pacific freight train.

13-year-old Christopher Bonilla was killed in the collision and 9-year-old Joselyne Torres was injured.
