KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Deputies discovered a body in a trunk after a Sunday morning police pursuit of a vehicle involved in a road rage incident ended in a crash in eastern Kaufman County.

Around 10:45 a.m., the Forney Police Department received a 911 call that a man pulled a gun on four people in a car and fired a shot at them in the area of U.S. Highway 80 and Farm-to-Market (FM) 548.

A Kaufman County Sheriff's Office deputy later located that vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 and attempted a traffic stop. The driver initially yielded to the officer, for a brief moment, before fleeing, according to a non-warrant arrest affidavit.

The driver of the suspect vehicle has been identified as 33-year-old Freddie Gilbert of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Gilbert fled at speeds reaching approximately 105 miles per hour before crashing and coming to a stop in the median of Interstate 20 just west of FM 2965 in eastern Kaufman County. Gilbert was taken into custody without further incident and found in possession of handguns and ammunition, according to the affidavit.

After his arrest, deputies searched the vehicle and discovered the body of a deceased woman in the trunk. The woman was identified as 19-year-old Jac Quisha Isaac of Dallas, Texas, according to Kaufman County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jolie Stewart.

Gilbert was jailed on charges for evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle and prohibited substance in a correctional facility. Suspected marijuana and crack cocaine were discovered in Gilbert's anal cavity during an unclothed search prior to booking at the Kaufman County Jail.

Stewart says the investigation remains ongoing.

The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation and the Forney Police Department is investigating the deadly conduct incident in their city.
