TERRELL, Texas — Bond has been set for a Terrell man accused in the shooting death of a Cedar Hill man on Monday night.
Just before 8 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2015, shots rang out at the Brownstone Apartment Homes complex in the 1300 block of South Adelaide Street in Terrell, Texas. When officers arrived, they discovered 42-year-old Raymond Clyde Lampkin deceased in a vehicle in the southeastern corner of the complex’s parking lot.
Police say 39-year-old Hubert Vaughn Thomas shot Lampkin several times through the vehicle’s windshield. Thomas was arrested at the scene within a large crowd that had gathered around the crime scene.
Thomas was being held at the Terrell Jail until he was transferred and booked into the Kaufman County Jail Wednesday night. He is being held on a murder charge with a $500,000 bond.
A motive is unclear at this time. Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom says the department continues to investigate the case as an open, active investigation.
