FORNEY, Texas β Kaufman County fire investigators arrested a man and charged him with arson for a warehouse fire last year at 12035 South Profit Row near Farm-to-Market 1641 which completely destroyed the building.
According to Kaufman County Assistant Fire Marshal Randy Richards, Abudulkader Hassan Elsaadi, of Dallas, was arrested on Friday, February 21, 2014, and booked into the Kaufman County Jail. Elsaadi was charged with arson and his bond was set at $100,000. Elsaadi was later released after posting bond the same day. Elsaadi was the tenant of the building at the time of the fire operating A&O Foreign Auto Parts.
On Friday night, September 6, 2013, fire departments from Forney and Terrell were called to battle the fire at the warehouse which contained foreign auto parts and other automotive combustibles. The extreme heat inside the building melted the metal support beams and exterior walls before half of the building collapsed.
The warehouse was located within an industrial park on FM 1641 just inside the Forney city limits. No other buildings were damaged in the fire and no injuries were reported.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal's office has provided evidence to the Kaufman County District Attorney's office for presentation to a Kaufman County grand jury. Video of the fire was captured here.
