TERRELL, Texas — A Kaufman County jury sentenced Charles Brownlow Jr. to death on Friday afternoon.

Brownlow, who is accused in a 2013 killing-spree in Terrell, Texas, which left five dead, was found guilty of capital murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Luis Gerardo Leal-Carillo last month.

The jurors’ decision to impose the death penalty came after weeks of testimony and deliberation in the punishment phase of the trial.

Brownlow was convicted in the shooting death of Leal-Carillo at Ali’s Market in Terrell, Texas, in an hours-long killing spree on October 28, 2013, in which he is also accused in the shooting deaths of his 61-year-old mother, Mary Brownlow, his 55-year-old aunt, Belinda Young Walker, 30-year-old Kelleye Pratt Sluder, and Jason Michael Wooden .
