CRANDALL, Texas — A Crandall Police Department police officer was arrested on March 13, 2015, by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and charged with sexual assault and official oppression.

CRANDALL, Texas — A Crandall Police Department police officer was arrested on March 13, 2015, by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and charged with sexual assault and official oppression.

36-year-old Christofer Melugin was charged with sexual assault for an alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old female, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Captain Fred Klingelberger confirmed to inForney.com. The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest and is leading the investigation into Melugin.

Melugin is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on a $150,000 bond for the sexual assault charge and a $50,000 bond for the official oppression charge.

Melugin has since been terminated from the Crandall Police Department, according to Crandall Police Department Chief Winters who said Melugin had been with the department for only six months.
