KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The driver of a pickup truck fled the scene of a two-vehicle accident on I-20 overnight.
At approximately 4 a.m. Saturday, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, the Forney Fire Department, an East Texas Medical Center ambulance, and the Mesquite Police Department were dispatched to the two-vehicle accident on eastbound I-20 just east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 740.
Upon arrival of the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, a witness stated the driver of the pickup truck had fled the scene on foot. Officers searched an area along the highway for the driver. According to a Mesquite Police Department representative, traffic investigators are continuing to investigate the accident and the driver as of this morning but did not report an arrest.
No injuries were reported in the accident although the condition of the driver who fled is unknown.
