FORNEY, Texas — On December 17, 2023, at 10:28 p.m. The Forney Communications Center received 911 calls regarding a shooting incident near the 100 block of Mandarin Street.
Officers arrived on the scene to find a female victim with apparent gunshot wounds in the garage of 120 Mandarin Street. The female was pronounced deceased on scene, and her identification is pending the notification of her next of kin.
Officers canvassing the area were able to find evidence that indicated the suspect in the shooting fled the scene only after also sustaining injuries. The Forney Communications Center sent the information to surrounding agencies regarding the incident and, a short time later, received notification from the Arlington Police Department about a gunshot victim discovered deceased in their jurisdiction. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner is working to identify the victim in Arlington.
Forney and Arlington police detectives have determined the two scenes are connected. The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation, which is still ongoing. However, the incident does appear to be isolated, and we can confirm there is no immediate risk to the public.
