The Forney Police and Fire Departments responded to a rear end collision that happened at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. The accident occurred in the exterior northbound lane on FM 548 at the Highway 80 traffic light.

A dark green Ford Explorer ran into the rear of a Sudden Link pick-up truck as it was stopped at a red light. Though police and fire personnel responded, the accident appeared to be a non-injury accident. There was visible damage to the front of the Ford and the rear portion of the Sudden Link truck. The lane was blocked off to traffic from the railroad tracks to the 548 and 80 intersection, which caused a slight traffic back-up.

The white, male driver of the Ford Explorer was given a Field Sobriety Test at the scene of the accident. The driver appeared to struggle with the test that was administered by a Forney Police Officer, and could not keep his balance during the one leg stand and the walk and turn. However, Forney PIO Detective Michael Clay was able to verify that no DWI arrest was made at the scene of the accident.
