Forney Brawl Leads To Multiple Injuries, Arrest

FORNEY - A “massive” fight broke out in the Windmill Farms area just before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, leading to at least two officers injured and three juveniles and at least one arrest.

FORNEY - A “massive” fight broke out in the Windmill Farms area just before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, leading to at least two officers injured and three juveniles and at least one arrest.

Just before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call of a fight in the Windmill Farms neighborhood just north of Forney.

Close to North Forney High School, Forney ISD was among the law enforcement agencies that responded. During de-escalation efforts, an officer's weapon discharged, hitting the street. According to the Sheriff’s Office, shrapnel from the impact injured a Kaufman County deputy, a Forney ISD officer, and three juveniles.

The Forney ISD officer was treated at the scene, while the others were transported to area hospitals.

According to a statement from Forney ISD, the discharged weapon did not belong to a Forney ISD officer.

“We want to clarify that no Forney ISD officer discharged a weapon. No Forney ISD officer went to the hospital,” said the statement. “This is an ongoing Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department investigation. Our teams will fully cooperate with other agencies, but we have no further details at this time.”

Forney ISD told inForney.com that the incident did not happen during school hours.

While the number of people involved in the fight has not been officially confirmed, the initial reports said upwards of 300 people were involved.

Officials haven’t provided any information on possible charges. The Texas Rangers are leading this investigation and will provide updates as they become available.
