FORNEY, Texas — A Forney couple is behind bars, charged with aggravated robbery in a planned robbery at Dollar General earlier this month where one of the suspects was employed.
The robbery occurred on January 9, 2019, just before midnight at the Dollar General store on Farm-to-Market (FM) 741, just outside of the Forney city limits near Heartland. Police, at the time, said a man entered the store, waited for all the customers to exit, displayed a gun, and demanded cigarettes and the cash from the register.
Kaufman County Sheriff's Office detectives later learned of the relationship and charged both, 19-year-old Jackie Freemont III and 30-year-old Tiffany Canuteson, both of Forney, with aggravated robbery. Police say they were in a relationship at the time of the robbery.
Freemont was already in custody at the Kaufman County Jail on unrelated charges when he was charged on January 23 with aggravated robbery in connection with the Dollar General robbery. The next day, Canutsen, who was employed at Dollar General, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. They are being held on bonds of $200,000 and $100,000, respectively.
Police say this investigation, as well as previous robberies at the Dollar General, remain ongoing.
