FORNEY, Texas — A Forney Independent School District student was arrested in connection with the shooting death of an Allen High School student in Plano on Sunday night.
The student, identified as 17-year-old Kemond Smith, was arrested at Forney ISD's alternative campus, the Forney Learning Academy, earlier today by the Plano Police Department.
Last night, around 10 p.m., Plano police responded to a reported shooting at a house party in the 3200 block of Peachtree Lane.
There, police discovered 16-year-old Marquel Ellis Jr suffering of an apparent gunshot wound. Ellis, a sophomore at Allen High School, was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
Police say the house party was full of teens when several were kicked out of the house — only to return and open fire at the partygoers.
Smith has been charged with murder and is being held at the Plano City Jail.
Just last week, Ellis tweeted his ambitions to attend college.
