FORNEY, Texas — A Forney man is being held on bonds totaling $160,000 for allegedly unlawfully restraining and sexually assaulting a woman, according to police.
On July 8, 2018, around 10:30 p.m., the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 hang-up call in the 1000 block of Halifax Lane in the Windmill Farms neighborhood, according to department spokesperson Jolie Stewart.
There, police say an adult female was kept from leaving the house or calling for help. The woman reported she was physically and sexually assaulted.
Deputies arrested 40-year-old Benjamin Travis Adams and charged him with sexual assault with a $100,000 bond, unlawful restraint with a $5,000 bond, interfering with emergency request for assistance with a $5,000 bond, and assault on a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation with a $50,000 bond.
Adams criminal history in Kaufman County includes charges for disorderly conduct - displaying a firearm, a 1997 charge for retaliation, and multiple traffic-related citations.
