FORNEY, Texas β Officers with the Forney Police Department made a series of drug-related arrests over the past couple days, recovering a firearm and being involved in a brief foot pursuit in the process.
FORNEY, Texas β Officers with the Forney Police Department made a series of drug-related arrests over the past couple days, recovering a firearm and being involved in a brief foot pursuit in the process.
On Monday night, officers responding to a suspicious person call on Grayhawk Drive near Little Gull Drive observed a man sifting through his car. One of the officers observed a baggie of suspected methamphetamine in plane sight and the suspect, identified by jail records as 36-year-old Christopher Shapcott, attempted to flee the officers on foot.
The foot pursuit was brief but cost Shapcott an evading arrest or detention with previous conviction charge in addition to a possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, greater than or equal to 1 gram and less than 4 grams charge. He is currently being held in the Kaufman County Jail on a $30,000 bond. Shapcott has multiple previous charges for evading, resisting, and possession of a controlled substance out of Kaufman County dating back to 2005.
On Wednesday, officers arrested 23-year-old Kieran Tarik Pemberton and 27-year-old Sylvester Manuel Morillo.
Pemberton was charged with possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 3 less than 28 grams, possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Pemberton is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on bonds totaling $3,750.
Morillo was charged with possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 less than 1 ounce with a $5,000 bond and two holds out of Arlington with bonds totaling $845.
On September 6, 2015, 21-year-old Joseph Valadez was booked into the Kaufman County Jail on a Forney charge of possession of marijuana, greater than 4 ounces and less than 5 pounds. He posted a $20,000 bond on Tuesday and has a previous Forney charge for burglary of a building, according to county and jail records.
