At approximately 2:30 a.m., the Forney Police Department received a 911 call from the 100 block of Southwestern Drive regarding two individuals who were burglarizing a vehicle in the complainant’s driveway. The two fled on foot towards Dartmouth Drive.

A responding Forney police officer noticed a Honda SUV near the intersection of South Chestnut Street and Stanford Street and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver bailed from the vehicle while it was still in motion and fled on foot southeast towards Windsor and Amherst Drive.
The suspect’s vehicle drove over a curb and struck a stop sign at the intersection of South Chestnut Street and Stanford Street where it came to a rest. The vehicle was later impounded.
Several other police officers with the Forney Police Department and Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department, including a K9 unit, set up a perimeter where the suspect was last seen. The suspect was apprehended in the 200 block of Amherst Drive a short time later without further incident.
At least one other individual was seen running from the residence on Southwestern Drive. That individual and a second individual have been identified by the Forney Police Department.
The man arrested, Jonah Taylor, is facing charges of burglary of a vehicle and evading arrest, according to the Forney Police Department.
The Forney Police Department received another burglary complaint overnight prior to this incident of an individual matching the description of the man arrested.
