FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Police Department is investigating an attempted burglary of a gun store which occurred early Wednesday morning.
“On December 14, 2016, at 3:35 a.m., Forney Police responded to an alarm call at Gotta Have Guns at 133 E. US Hwy 80,” the department stated in a Wednesday press release.
“Upon officers arrival it was discovered that an unknown offender(s) drove a vehicle into the south exterior wall of the business,” the department stated. “It is believed this was an attempt to gain entry to the building.”
Video surveillance shows a vehicle approach the front of the business where an individual, seen wearing a multi-colored hoodie and cap, long shorts, and tennis shoes, exited the vehicle and approached the front door. The individual reentered the vehicle and the vehicle exited the camera view, according to the department’s statement.
A short time later, the video shows the interior wall being damaged with guns falling from the wall and damaging display cases.
Police say the vehicle may have only rammed the wall once and, after not receiving a satisfactory result, fled the scene.
In August 2016, a vehicle attempted to ram through the exterior wall of Jackrabbit Quick Stop in an attempt to steal the ATM. This attempt too, was unsuccessful.
