FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Police Department will likely join a list of north Texas law enforcement agencies using social media to alert drivers of traffic enforcement areas – specifically speeding.

The practice was first seen on the Keller Police Department's Twitter account. Shortly thereafter, the Dallas Police Department began sending out alerts on their official department account, some of their public information officers' accounts, and traffic enforcement officers' accounts, after months of planning. The Arlington Police Department also began posting alerts last week.

The Forney Police Department posted their first enforcement area earlier this morning, March 25, 2014, on Facebook and said they would focus their efforts on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548. “Our purpose is to deter these infractions,” stated the Forney Police Department on Facebook. “Occasionally, we will post on here the location we are responding to.”
