FORNEY, Texas β€” The Forney Police Department is warning everyone to remove their personal belongings, lock their vehicle doors, and park in a well lit area after a recent rise in vehicle thefts.

The Ford F250 and F350 is the most common vehicle being stolen and, of seven reports obtained by inForney.com, accounts for five stolen vehicles between the dates of November 10, 2014, and November 21, 2014. Approximately five additional vehicles have been stolen since the 21st, according to police.

Approximately four of the vehicles have been recovered β€” one recovered in Seagoville, Texas. The vehicles aren’t being completely stripped, instead, police believe they are being used to commit other crimes such as trailer theft, burglaries, or transportation.

Two vehicles were stolen over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and the thieves attempted to steal a third but were unsuccessful.

Vehicle thefts aren’t typical of the area, stated Forney Police Department Captain Jason Ray. β€œWe want to advise people to take their belongings out of their vehicles and lock their doors,” he said. He also advised to park in well lit areas.
