Forney police say fatal shooting was 'pre-meditated targeted attack'

FORNEY, Texas — Forney police say a fatal Monday morning shooting was a "pre-mediated targeted attack."

The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, February 5, 2024, in the 600 block of Summerhaven.

Two alleged suspects have since been arrested.

Officers who responded to the initial call located a victim deceased in a driveway from an apparent gunshot wound.

Monday morning, a person of interest was taken into custody as police stated the investigation had turned homicide and the victim had been targeted.

Monday evening, with assistance from the Forney SWAT Team and the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, a search and arrest warrant was served at a residence on Rosy Finch Drive, located north of Forney near the intersection of County Road 221 and University Drive.

"At this time, we believe all suspects involved have been taken into custody," read a statement, in part, from the Forney Police Department.

Identified Tuesday in connection with the case were Deaundre Bernard Walker and Mayra Lara Diosdado, both of Forney.

Walker was murder and first-degree felony possession of a controlled substance. Police located approximately 240 grams of an unnamed narcotic during a search of his residence. His bonds were set at $1 million and $500,000 on the charges, respectively.

Lara Diosdado was charged with murder and second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance with bonds set at $750,000 and $500,000, respectively. She is also being held on no bond for a Parker County warrant.
