FORNEY, Texas β€” Two adults and two juveniles were arrested earlier this week in connection with an arson fire at Eastside Park in August which destroyed a portion of the playground equipment and forced a partial closure.

18-year-olds David Hunter Moore and Hunter Shane Willingham, both of Forney, Texas, were arrested and charged with arson. Both were booked into the Kaufman County Jail and released on $25,000 bonds yesterday. The two juveniles were booked into the Hunt County Juvenile Detention Center in Greenville, Texas.

Forney Fire Marshal John Holcomb told inForney.com his office received several leads during his investigation which led to arrest warrants being issued for the four suspects. Holcomb, with assistance from the Forney Police Department, made the arrests.

The fire, described as an incendiary fire, caused the closure of a portion of the playground equipment at Eastside Park which could remain closed for several months while the Forney Parks and Recreation Department awaits the needed parts for the repairs. Damage to the park was initially estimated at $5,000. Officials now believe the estimated damage is closer to $10,000.

Holcomb is also asking for any information related to a fire at Claybon Elementary on Sunday, October 5, 2014. A trash can was lit on fire near an outside wall of the building around 8:30 p.m. If you have any information about this fire, contact Fire Marshal Holcomb at (972) 564-7368 or the Kaufman County Crime Stoppers at (877) 847-7522.
