SCURRY, Texas — UPDATE [Dec.10] — Four people were arrested, including a 14-year-old juvenile, in connection with an armed robbery of the Scurry Exxon on Sunday night.
Investigators with the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers served an arrest warrant around 2 a.m. today in the 2100 block of Jasper Boulevard, which is located in rural Kaufman County in between Scurry and Crandall.
The arrest warrant execution led to the arrest of four individuals — a 14-year-old juvenile, 17-year-old Trevariyus Robinson, 17-year-old Russell Jones, and 22-year-old Darroch Clippard, all of Kaufman, Texas.
Robinson, Jones, and Clippard were transported to the Kaufman County Jail and charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. Bond information was not available at the time of press as the three were awaiting arraignment. The juvenile, also charged with aggravated robbery, was transported to a juvenile detention facility.
"I am pleased with the quick resolution of this investigation and the information provided by our community," stated Kaufman County Sheriff Bryan Beavers. "KCSO investigators and the Texas Rangers worked around the clock to find those we believe are responsible and were able to do so without harm to officers or suspects."
ORIGINAL [Dec. 9] — The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery at an Exxon convenience store in Scurry.
At approximately 7:15 p.m., the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting an armed robbery from the Exxon location in the 8000 block of State Highway 34 in Scurry, Texas.
The caller told police one man was armed with a shotgun and another was armed with a handgun during the robbery.
Three individuals wearing hoodies and bandannas covering their faces were captured on the store's video surveillance.
A fourth individual was driving the getaway vehicle which is described as a maroon-colored, older-model, four-door passenger vehicle. The vehicle has a heavy paint fade on its roof and trunk, was not displaying license plates, and is missing its circular gas cap.
The vehicle possibly traveled south on State Highway 34 after the robbery.
