GUN BARREL CITY, Texas — The Gun Barrel City Police Department is seeking the whereabouts of a man who is "considered armed and extremely dangerous."

GUN BARREL CITY, Texas — The Gun Barrel City Police Department is seeking the whereabouts of a man who is "considered armed and extremely dangerous."

The man, identified as 41-year-old Timothy Berry, was involved in a home invasion early Monday morning and held several individuals hostage for approximately an hour-and-a-half.

Berry is known to frequent the Tool, Seven Points, and Scurry areas.

At approximately 5 a.m., Berry allegedly forcibly entered the home of his estranged wife on Willowwood Drive.

Berry was allegedly armed with a handgun and held his estranged wife, the homeowner, and the homeowner’s son hostage for approximately an hour-and-a-half, according to the Gun Barrel City Police Department.

“The hostages were able to distract Berry and flee the residence,” stated the department.

Berry fled the residence on foot after unsuccessfully attempting to steal one of the victims’ vehicles.

“Responding officers searched the area and it is believed that Berry is no longer in the city limits of Gun Barrel City,” stated the department.

“Berry is armed and considered extremely dangerous,” the department stated.

Berry’s criminal history in Henderson County includes arrests, among other things, for family violence with previous convictions, evading arrest with previous convictions, and possession of dangerous drugs.
