GUN BARREL CITY, Texas — The Gun Barrel City Police Department has seen a recent increase in vehicle thefts over the past few months, according to the department.
Three of which occurred in the past week.
The vehicle theft suspects are currently targeting Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierras between the years 1998 and 2012 as well as Ford F-250s and Nissan Titans, the department stated.
“Many have been taken in broad daylight from local businesses parking lots,” stated the department. “The suspects are breaking into these trucks through the driver side door.”
Two stolen trucks were recently recovered in Dallas and Seagoville, Texas.
“Please take precautions to secure your vehicles, removing any valuable items including any identifying information,” the department warned. “Also, while visiting local businesses, attempt to park close to the front where your vehicle is easily seen.”
The Gun Barrel City Police Department is currently working with numerous area law enforcement agencies in locating the suspects.
