KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – A gun was discharged Sunday during a domestic dispute in far east Kaufman County and resulted in one arrest. Yesterday, the dispute escalated to a stabbing with one woman being taken to the hospital and another individual being arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The dispute began on Sunday, August 17, 2014, in the 1500 block of Magnolia Trail, according to police. The dispute, reportedly over medication, was between family members who live next to each other on Magnolia Trail.

During the dispute on Sunday, a firearm was discharged at or near another individual. The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office arrested Wanda Baldrey Martin and charged her with deadly conduct for discharging the firearm – a third-degree felony. She was released that same day after posting a $10,000 bond. No injuries were reported in the gunfire.

At approximately 2 p.m., on Monday, August 18, 2014, police say the dispute escalated when Wanda Lee Goforth was arguing with another individual outside their homes. A third individual, 57-year-old Billy Ray Goforth, joined the dispute and stabbed Wanda Goforth twice with a knife – once in the lower abdomen and once in the lower back.

Several deputies with the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office and the Precinct 4 Constable's Office responded to the scene.

Wanda Goforth was taken by an East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) ambulance to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, for her injuries and Billy Goforth was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – a first-degree felony. Billy Goforth is currently being held in the Kaufman County Jail on a $25,000 bond. Wanda Goforth's current condition is unknown.

Investigators remained at the scene late Monday night.

The College Mound Volunteer Fire Department assisted ETMC with the stabbing victim.
