DALLAS, Texas — A high-speed police pursuit which began in Kaufman County ended in south Dallas after the suspect’s vehicle ran out of gas on the highway.
The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a reckless driver on westbound Interstate 20 passing through Terrell, Texas, just before 4:30 a.m. A Kaufman County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver, who has not yet been identified, fled westbound on Interstate 20.
The driver fled at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour in a black Chevy Tahoe with his headlights off. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit on Interstate 20 near Lawson Road and attempted to deploy spike strips but the driver avoided them.
The pursuit traveled westbound until the Interstate 20 ramp to southbound Interstate 35E where the vehicle ran out of gas. The man was taken into custody without any further incident.
The vehicle is registered in Arkansas.
