High-speed police pursuit of motorcycle ends in wreck on U.S. Highway 80

FORNEY, Texas — An overnight high-speed police pursuit of a motorcycle ended in a wreck on U.S. Highway 80.

FORNEY, Texas — An overnight high-speed police pursuit of a motorcycle ended in a wreck on U.S. Highway 80.

Just before midnight, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office began chasing the motorcycle as it sped through Sunnyvale, Texas, and eastbound into Kaufman County. The Forney Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety joined the pursuit as it passed through Forney in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The motorcycle wrecked on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 at Spur 557 in between Terrell and Forney. After losing his shoes in the wreck, the driver was able to flee on foot a short distance before he was apprehended without further incident about 200 yards from the the downed motorcycle.

The driver, who has not been identified, sustained superficial injuries and was examined on scene by EMS before being taken into custody, according to police.

The motorcycle was reportedly stolen. Its unknown what charges, in addition to evading arrest, the driver will face.

On Sunday, July 26, 2015, the Forney Police Department was involved in a high-speed pursuit of a motorcycle through Terrell and into Kaufman before the driver eluded police in a nearby neighborhood.
