Investigators believe they found the car used during the murder of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse on January 31, 2013. Hasse was gunned down as he walked the short distance from the parking lot on Grove Street in Kaufman, Texas, to the Kaufman County Courthouse.

Authorities have since identified former Kaufman County Justice of the Peace Eric Williams as the shooter who killed Hasse, and his wife, Kim Williams, as his accomplice and driver on that fateful day.

According to a search warrant issued on April 19, 2013, investigators describe the vehicle as a silver 2001 Mercury Sable with license plate number CF1 C236. The vehicle was towed on March 7, 2013, from Gibson's Self Storage in Seagoville, Texas, after the property owner thought it was abandoned. Gibson's Self Storage is the same storage facility where investigators found a white Crown Victoria linked to the murders of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia.

The investigators later tracked down the registered owner of the vehicle who said she sold the vehicle on Craigslist in 2010. A search warrant affidavit reveals that Williams searched, using Lexis Nexis, for the license plate matching the Mercury Sable on January 27.

The search warrant affidavit also states that investigators have obtained entry logs for an access code linked to Williams that reveal him entering and exiting the facility on January 30, 31, and March 30.

Special prosecutors Bill Wirskye and Toby Shook have been appointed the case. Eric Williams is being represented by the Regional Public Defender for capital cases based in Lubbock and Kim Williams is being represented by Paul Johnson of Dallas.

The investigative task force continues to urge the public to call the tip line at 1 (877) 847-7522 with any information they may have concerning the murders or the above described vehicle.
