ROCKWALL, Texas — A judge has denied former Kaufman County Justice of the Peace Eric Williams’ second request for a change of venue in his approaching capital murder trial where he stands accused in the deaths of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney (DA) Mark Hasse, DA Mike McLelland, and his wife, Cynthia.

Williams’ defense team filed the motion earlier this month stating extensive media coverage would make it difficult for Williams to receive a fair trial and sought the trial be moved to a county beyond an adjoining district.

Visiting Dallas County District Court Judge Mike Snipes, who is presiding over the trial in Rockwall County, denied the defenses’ motion.

Jury selection will continue and eight jurors have already been agreed upon by both the state and the defense. ;
