KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A jury has been seated in the Eric Williams murder trial in Rockwall County, despite attempts to relocate and delay the trial by Williams’ defense team.
Williams, a former Kaufman County justice of the peace, and his estranged wife, Kim, have been indicted for the capital murders of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse, Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland, and his wife, Cynthia.
Last month, Williams’ defense team attempted to have the trial moved from Rockwall County after the trial had already been moved from Kaufman County. Their motion was denied by visiting Dallas County District Court Judge Mike Snipes, who is presiding over the trial in Rockwall County.
Snipes has repeatedly said the trial will move forward with the scheduled December 1, 2014, trial date.
