FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office made an arrest in connection with a fire outside Claybon Elementary School on October 5, 2014.

A juvenile was arrested earlier this week and charged with arson, a first-degree felony, Forney Fire Department Fire Marshal John Holcomb told inForney.com. The juvenile, a student at Forney High School, was booked into the Hunt County Juvenile Detention Center in Greenville, Texas.

Claybon Elementary School smoke alarms alerted the Forney Fire Department of the fire late Sunday night, October 5, 2014. A trash can had been set on fire near a rear exterior wall of the school building.

Heat and flames penetrated the wall and caused internal damage to the wall and insulation. No other damage was reported inside the school which had to be aired out with fans to clear a large amount of smoke.
