K9 alerts to meth, fentanyl during traffic stop of Mabank man with drug conviction history

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — A routine traffic stop in the Gun Barrel City area of Henderson County on Friday led to a drug-related arrest.

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — A routine traffic stop in the Gun Barrel City area of Henderson County on Friday led to a drug-related arrest.

The driver, identified as Hayden Parks, was pulled over by Deputy Jared Mills of the Henderson County Sheriff's Office. A female passenger, whose identity has not been disclosed, was also present in the vehicle.

Deputy Mills called for backup, bringing in K9 Deputy Edwin Rodriguez and his dog, Valco.

After Valco alerted during a free air sniff around the vehicle, a search was conducted. Suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl were found inside the vehicle. Parks was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Henderson County Jail, where he awaits arraignment.

The female passenger, who had outstanding arrest warrants, was also arrested and transported to the Henderson County Jail.

According to Kaufman and Henderson County court records, Parks has several drug-related arrests and convictions in both counties.
